Sophia Bush, known for her role in "One Tree Hill," candidly shares her journey of unexpected love with former soccer player Ashlyn Harris.

"In this support system, I stumbled upon love unexpectedly. It's hard to put it any other way: I didn't see it coming until it happened," Bush revealed in her feature with Glamour, published on Thursday.

Bush, who filed for divorce from her husband Grant Hughes on August 4, 2023, acknowledged the date of their separation as June 27, 2023, just over a year after their wedding on June 11, 2022. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split.

The actress elaborated on how friends within her support group, initially formed to navigate life changes, began noticing the emerging connection between her and Harris. Harris, too, filed for divorce from her ex-wife, former professional soccer player Ali Krieger, in September 2023.

"It took the observations of our trusted circle to point out how we'd finish each other's sentences or be profoundly moved by the same things," Bush reflected.

After much contemplation and encouragement from loved ones, Bush took the initiative to ask Harris to spend time together privately.

"It took a lot of soul-searching, numerous therapy sessions, and encouragement from my inner circle, but eventually, I invited Ashlyn for a one-on-one hangout to discuss our feelings," Bush shared.

Describing their lengthy meal together as "surreal," Bush expressed her astonishment at the depth of their connection.

However, despite her newfound happiness, Bush highlighted the swift negative public reaction, emphasizing the unseen effort and time it took for her to embrace love again.

"There were outright falsehoods. Threats of violence. Accusations of being a home-wrecker. Those who suggested I left my ex because I suddenly realized I desired women—my partners have always known my truth," Bush lamented.

Respecting Harris's privacy regarding her family, Bush commended her partner's unwavering commitment as a mother.

"While I won't delve into Ashlyn's personal life or her children, I'm in awe of her unwavering integrity. The way she prioritizes and revolves around her kids, not just in her daily life but at her core, is truly inspiring," Bush expressed.

Falling in love with Harris has helped Bush heal childhood wounds and brought her closer to her own mother.

Moreover, Bush shared her experience entering the LGBTQIA+ community, acknowledging recent challenges faced by the community and emphasizing the importance of honoring the act of coming out.
